Accommodation
The camp sleeps 10 in five luxury ensuite chalets with their own decks, fans and air conditioning. Two chalets can accommodate an extra child. The camp has a communal area with open plan kitchen, dining, lounge, bar area and two TVs with DSTV (satellite TV).
Wifi is available, so you’re never out of touch with friends and family. Outside, there are two braai areas, a swimming pool, and two bomas, one with a mini kitchen and dining area. The camp is surrounded by a low ‘Kenya style’ fence that keeps larger game out without getting in the way of the views. If you have a bigger group, there is other accommodation close by.
Makalali Nature Reserve
Clive’s Camp lies within the 25,000-hectare Greater Makalali Nature Reserve (GMNR) in the triangle between Hoedspruit, Phalaborwa and Tzaneen in Limpopo province. Nestled between the majestic Drakensberg mountains to the west and the iconic Kruger Park to the east, it is right in the heart of classic Southern African wildlife country.
Makalali is home to the famous ‘big 5’ – lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, and elephant – as well as wild dog, cheetah and many other species. The Makhutswi river bisects the reserve, providing excellent game-viewing and birdwatching opportunities.
Makalali is less well-known than the nearby Timbavati, Klaserie and Sabi Sands private reserves, giving it a lower density of owners and lodges. This results in a more exclusive wilderness experience.
