AN EXCLUSIVE
WILDERNESS RETREAT
Clive’s Camp is offered on an exclusive-use basis, allowing guests to enjoy the lodge in complete privacy and at their own pace. Ideal for families, groups of friends or small private gatherings, the camp offers the flexibility to tailor the safari experience entirely to your group — from the timing of activities to the rhythm of each day in the bush.
The lodge itself has been designed as a relaxed yet refined retreat overlooking the open plains in front of camp, where wildlife is frequently seen gathering at the nearby waterhole. A magnificent swimming pool and expansive outdoor dining area provide the perfect setting to unwind between safari activities, while the traditional boma offers a memorable space for fireside dinners beneath the African sky as animals move quietly through the landscape beyond.
At the heart of the camp lies a spacious and beautifully designed open-plan main area, featuring a modern designer kitchen, lounge, dining space and a welcoming fireplace — creating a warm and inviting atmosphere where guests can relax and share stories of the day’s sightings.
The lodge itself is fully fenced and surrounded by sweeping green lawns, offering both comfort and peace of mind while maintaining uninterrupted views of the surrounding bushveld. From sunrise coffee on the deck to evenings around the fire, Clive’s Camp invites guests to slow down, reconnect and experience the African wilderness in complete privacy.
UNFORGETTABLE
SAFARI ENCOUNTERS
Every day at Clive’s Camp is shaped by the rhythm of the African bush. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in open safari vehicles led by experienced guides. These drives offer exceptional opportunities to encounter Makalali’s wildlife while learning about the ecosystems that sustain it.
For a deeper connection with the landscape, guided bush walks allow guests to explore the reserve on foot and discover the smaller details of the wilderness.
Evenings are a highlight of any safari stay. Guests gather around the traditional boma fire for dinner beneath the stars or enjoy unforgettable bush dinners set in scenic locations within the reserve.
For a more adventurous experience, guests can spend a night in the elevated Sleep-Out Hide, a rustic wooden hide overlooking a waterhole where two guests can safely sleep out in the bush beneath the stars, surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.
LOCATED IN THE
MAKALALI NATURE RESERVE
Clive’s Camp lies within the Greater Makalali Private Nature Reserve in Limpopo Province, in the triangle between Hoedspruit, Phalaborwa and Tzaneen.
The reserve is easily accessible via Hoedspruit Airport, which offers daily flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town. From here, guests travel a short distance into the reserve where the wilderness of Makalali begins.
Despite its convenient access, Clive’s Camp feels wonderfully remote — offering guests the rare opportunity to disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature.
